Express Entry is Canada's main immigration system for selecting skilled workers for Permanent Residence. It manages three federal programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), and the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FST). Each program has different minimum requirements, but all feed into the same CRS-ranked pool.
This tool asks about your age, education, language level, work experience inside and outside Canada, and proof of funds. Based on your answers, it tells you whether you likely meet basic eligibility for one of the three Express Entry programs. It is a preliminary check — the official eligibility assessment is done by IRCC when you submit your Express Entry profile.
If you meet the basic requirements, you can create an Express Entry profile on the IRCC website. Your profile is given a CRS score and placed in the Express Entry pool. IRCC invites the highest-scoring candidates in regular draws. If you receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA), you have 60 days to submit a complete PR application.
Yes — the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSW) is designed for candidates with skilled work experience gained outside Canada. You need at least 1 year of continuous full-time (or equivalent part-time) skilled work in the last 10 years, plus a language test result of CLB 7 or higher.
Proof of funds is required unless you currently hold a valid work permit in Canada and have a valid job offer. The required amount depends on your family size. For a single applicant in 2026, the minimum is approximately CAD $14,690. Check IRCC's official website for the current settlement fund requirements.
No. Being in the Express Entry pool means you are eligible — but your CRS score determines when (or whether) you receive an Invitation to Apply. A lower score means you may wait longer or should look at strategies to improve your score, such as getting a PNP nomination.
