Fact-Checking Policy
How we verify every factual claim before it reaches you.
Why Fact-Checking Matters for Immigration Content
Immigration is a high-stakes topic. Outdated information about eligibility requirements, processing times, or document checklists can lead real people to make costly mistakes — or miss genuine opportunities. We take that responsibility seriously.
Our fact-checking process is designed to ensure that every claim on this site — whether a CRS point value, a document requirement, or a processing timeline — is sourced from an authoritative, current, and verifiable source.
Primary Sources We Use
All immigration policy, program manuals, processing times, and form requirements
The governing federal legislation for all Canadian immigration
Official Express Entry draw history, CRS cutoff records, and admission statistics
Operational bulletins, policy updates, and ministerial instructions
Refugee claim procedures, hearing guidelines, and appeal processes
PNP stream requirements, criteria, and current intake status
What We Do Not Use
- Unverified social media posts or forum discussions (Reddit, Facebook groups, etc.)
- Content from other third-party immigration websites unless corroborated by official sources
- Anecdotal accounts as factual statements (we may reference experiences as context, clearly labeled)
- AI-generated summaries of policy without verification against primary sources
- Paid press releases or promotional content from immigration service providers
Handling Uncertainty & Changing Policy
Canadian immigration policy changes frequently. Processing times fluctuate. Draw cutoffs vary. When current information is unavailable or uncertain, we:
- State explicitly that data may change and direct readers to the official IRCC source
- Use ranges rather than single-point estimates for processing times
- Date all "Last reviewed" markers clearly on every guide
- Flag time-sensitive information with a prominent note
Report an Inaccuracy
See something wrong? We want to know. Use our contact form to report the page URL, the specific claim you believe is incorrect, and — if possible — the source you believe we should reference. We review all submissions and correct confirmed errors promptly.
