How We Research
A transparent look at our content research and writing process.
Our Research Philosophy
Every guide on Maple Route Immigration starts with a question: What does someone actually need to know to understand this immigration pathway? We work backward from that question — not from keyword lists or traffic projections.
Our goal is to be the site that explains what IRCC's own website explains, but in the way a knowledgeable friend would explain it over a cup of coffee — clearly, honestly, and without overwhelming you with regulatory language.
Step-by-Step Research Process
- 1Identify the topic and user intent
We determine what question users are actually asking — not just what keywords show traffic volume. For example, "spousal sponsorship" isn't just about eligibility — it's about relationship evidence, timelines, and what happens if you're refused.
- 2Read the primary IRCC source
We start with the official IRCC guide for each program, followed by any applicable operational instructions, program delivery instructions (PDIs), and the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations (IRPR).
- 3Identify all edge cases and common questions
We review what real users ask — through public forums, government Q&A resources, and IRB decisions — to identify the nuances and edge cases that official documentation doesn't always address clearly.
- 4Draft with plain language
We write each guide to be understood by someone with no immigration background. Every technical term is defined. Every acronym is spelled out. Tables and step-by-step formats are used whenever a complex process can be made clearer.
- 5Cross-check all facts before publishing
Every specific claim — fee amounts, eligibility thresholds, document requirements — is verified against the current IRCC source before the guide goes live.
- 6Add appropriate limitations and disclaimers
We clearly note where information may vary by individual circumstance, where policy is in flux, and where professional advice is strongly recommended.
- 7Publish and monitor
After publishing, we monitor IRCC policy updates. When relevant changes occur, we update the guide and refresh the "Last reviewed" date.
How We Handle Tool Accuracy
Our calculators and eligibility tools — including the CRS Score Calculator and Express Entry Eligibility Checker — are built from the official IRCC point grids and program requirements. They are designed to provide educational estimates, not official scores. Actual scores are calculated by IRCC's own system, which may include factors our simplified tools do not capture.
Every tool page clearly states its purpose as an estimate and directs users to the official IRCC portal for an actual profile submission.
